Setting up ePanicButton and Installing on Desktops
This detailed guide walks a new administrator through initial set up and installing the ePanicButton desktop client on workstations for the first time.
---
## Before You Start
- You have received your **Registration ID** and **portal login credentials** from ePanicButton.
- You must have **administrator rights** on each workstation.
- Install on a **minimum of two computers** so you can test sending and receiving pop up desktop alerts.
- All new users (devices) go into the default group that you can select in the Groups Tab.
---
## Step 1 — Log In to the Admin Portal
1. Open a browser and go to **https://dash.epanicbutton.com**
2. Enter your username and the default password: eP@nic123
3. You will be prompted to change your password. Requirements:
- 8 or more characters
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one number
- At least one special character (e.g., `!`, `@`, `#`)
4. Save your new password and log back in.
---
## Step 2 — Download the Installer
1. In the portal, click the download icon or go to https://dash.epanicbutton.com/downloads/
**Only applicable for MS Windows OS stations, not Apple computers.**
---
## Step 3 — Install on Each Workstation
Repeat these steps on every computer that needs to send messages or receive pop up alerts.
1. Double click the epanicbuttoninstaller.exe installer.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts.
3. When prompted, enter your **Registration ID** exactly as provided (Copy Registration ID link at top of portal)
**For Bulk Upload using a Spreadsheet, this is the final step as the Profile will be "pulled down" from the Users table to complete the installation.**

4. Complete the user profile fields:
- **Name** — the person at this workstation
- **Location** — room, department, or area (this appears on messages)
- **Department** — whatever makes sense
- **Telephone** - the office telephone or cell phone
5. Click **OK** to complete the installation.
> **Tip:** The location field is sent in the message. Use something immediately understandable like "Front Desk – Building A" rather than a room number or address.

## Step 4 — Confirm the User Appears in the Portal
1. Log in to the portal and open the **Users** tab.
2. Confirm the newly installed workstation appears as a user in the list.
3. Repeat Steps for each additional workstation.
