Installing ePanicButton
This guide walks a new administrator through installing the ePanicButton desktop client on workstations for the first time.
---
## Before You Start
- You have received your **Registration ID** and **portal login credentials** from ePanicButton support.
- Each workstation must have **.NET Framework 4.7 or higher** installed.
- You must have **administrator rights** on each workstation.
- Install on a **minimum of two computers** so you can test sending and receiving alerts.
---
## Step 1 — Log In to the Admin Portal
1. Open a browser and go to **https://dash.epanicbutton.com**
2. Enter your username and the default password: `eP@nic123`
3. You will be prompted to change your password. Requirements:
- 8 or more characters
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one number
- At least one special character (e.g., `!`, `@`, `#`)
4. Save your new password and log back in.
---
## Step 2 — Download the Installer
1. In the portal, navigate to the **Downloads** section.
2. Download the latest `.exe` installer file to the workstation (or a shared folder accessible to all workstations).
---
## Step 3 — Install on Each Workstation
Repeat these steps on every computer that needs to send or receive alerts.
1. Right-click the `.exe` installer and choose **Run as Administrator**.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts.
3. When prompted, enter your **Registration ID** exactly as provided.
4. Complete the user profile fields:
- **Name** — the person at this workstation
- **Location** — room, department, or building (this appears on alerts)
- **Designation** — job title or role (optional but recommended)
5. Click **Finish** to complete the installation.
> **Tip:** The location field is what recipients see when an alert comes in. Use something clear like "Front Desk – Building A" rather than a computer name.
---
## Step 4 — Confirm the User Appears in the Portal
1. Log in to the portal and open the **Users** tab.
2. Confirm the newly installed workstation appears as a user in the list.
3. Repeat Steps 3–4 for each additional workstation.
---
## Step 5 — Test the System
1. On one workstation, press a button to send a test alert.
2. Confirm the alert is received on the second workstation (desktop notification) and/or via email or SMS depending on your configuration.
3. If alerts are not received, see the **Troubleshooting Guide**.
