# Configuring Message Receivers
Receivers determine who gets notified — and how — when a button is pressed.
Each button has a different receiver list for each type of message, so a message can alert can be sent through different methods to different people, completely customizable.
The 4 delivery methods are: Desktop Alert; Mobile Push Notification; Email; SMS (text message)

## Accessing Receiver Settings
1. Log in to the portal at **https://dash.epanicbutton.com**
2. Click the **Messages** tab
3. Find the button you want to configure
4. On the right, there are 4 icons for the message types. Clicking any will show each list.

## Adding a Desktop Pop Up Alert or Mobile Push Notification Receivers
The user interface is essentially the same.
1. Click the appropriate icon.
2. On the left, are the already assigned receivers; on the right, the Available Receivers to add.
3. Check box to select and click the **Add Receivers** button
> **Note:** The receiving devices must have the ePanicButton app installed and running for alerts to work.

## Adding an Email and SMS text Receivers
The user interface is essentially the same.
1. Click the appropriate icon.
2. The already listed receivers are on the left.
3. To add new, enter info on the right and click Save.

## Preventing Self-Alerts
By default, the person who activates a message will not receive their own desktop pop up alert or mobile push notification. This is built into the system and does not require configuration. They can receive the sms text and/o emails.

## Tips
- To send messages to a mobile phone, you can send a push notification (requiring the app) and/or just send them an sms text (which does not require the epanicbutton app).
- A single receiver can receive alerts through multiple methods simultaneously (e.g., both desktop and SMS).
