# Configuring Message Receivers

Receivers determine who gets notified — and how — when a button is pressed.

Each button has a different receiver list for each type of message, so a message can alert can be sent  through different methods to different people, completely customizable.

The three delivery methods are: **Desktop Alert**, **Email**, **SMS (text message)**

---

## Accessing Receiver Settings

1. Log in to the portal at **https://dash.epanicbutton.com**
2. Click the **Buttons** tab
3. Find the button you want to configure
4. Click the **Receivers** icon next to that button

You will see 4 receiver lists for that button, labled for each delivery method.

---

## Adding a Desktop Alert Receiver

Desktop alerts display a pop-up notification on the receiver's computer screen.

1. In the receiver list, click **+Add**
2. Select the users from the Available Receivers list
3. Click the **Add Selected** button to Save

> **Note:** The receiving workstation must have the ePanicButton client installed and running for desktop alerts to work.

---

## Adding an Email Receiver

1. To add a person that is already a user, In the Email Receiver list, click **Add from Users**
2. Select the user (or enter an email address directly)
3. Click the **Add Selected to Save

4. To add an email address that does not belong to any existing users, just enter the email in the email address field and click Add.

---

## Adding an SMS Receiver

1. Same process as adding the email receivers.  Click to add existing users or enter manually, including their name.

---

## Preventing Self-Alerts

By default, the person who presses the button will not receive their own pop up alert. This is built into the system and does not require configuration.

---

## Tips

- A single receiver can receive alerts through multiple methods simultaneously (e.g., both desktop and SMS).
- Each button has its own independent receiver list. Changes to one button do not affect others.
